Our Story
Because how it works matters
We want to make engineering simple and useful. That means building systems that are clear, dependable and built with the people who need them.
Who are we?
ProtoGT is a hands-on engineering company based in Sheffield. We design and build custom systems for teams that need things to work properly. That might mean building a prototype from scratch, automating a tricky task, or creating tools to test something no one’s tested before.

How we work
We’re small. We don’t hide behind fancy slides or job titles. You speak with the engineers doing the work. We ask the right questions, then we get on with it.

This year we were shortlisted for the Made In Sheffield Award for Manufacturing Startups.
Being recognised in a city with such world renowned industrial heritage is a huge milestone for our team. This nomination is a true testament to our dedication to innovation, quality and the future of local manufacturing.
Meet the Founders
ProtoGT is run by Ed and Will, who met at uni and started building things together
Less waste.
More useful.
Big firms call it sustainability. We just build carefully.
We reuse materials, repurpose old parts and keep waste low by design. We build systems to last. If something breaks, it can be fixed. If it no longer fits, it can be adapted.
Sustainability starts with working smarter. We’re always looking for better ways to do that.
Different Minds Welcome
We value Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
Good ideas come from all sorts of people. We back that fully.
We work with people who see things differently, think differently, and come from different walks of life. Some of us process the world in unusual ways. To us, that's something to use.
Real progress comes from mixing perspectives, not narrowing them. We make space for difference because it helps us spot what others miss and build things that actually work for more people.
