Patented compressor module features
The Challenge
Industrial compressors are essential across manufacturing, energy, food processing and defence, but they remain highly inefficient. Only 5 to 10% of the electrical input is typically converted into useful pneumatic output, with losses coming from compressor design, thermal behaviour, control strategy and wider system scheduling.
The client had developed a novel high power industrial compressor technology, designed to improve efficiency through a new multistage near isothermal architecture. To bring the product to market, they needed an equally advanced control algorithm that could unlock the value of the compressor technology.
The system needed to support safe prototype operation, live monitoring, VFD control and expansion into a coordinated group of up to six compressor units. This created a complex control problem, where pressure regulation, compressor wear, load sharing and system visibility all had to be considered together.
